Movie Sunday

>> Sunday, September 27, 2009

Ross and I are all about the cheap entertainment, and today was just that. Movies! We started out with Wolverine, then watched Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and also caught part of 50 First Dates that was on tv. We were both working on stuff while the movies were going, but it was still fun and relaxing. Perfect too, since I've been so tired today! Part way through Ghosts of Girlfriends Past we snacked on some leftover vegan stuffed mushrooms and vegan spinach "sausage" bread from last night.

Dinner was very low-key since I didn't feel like making what was on the menu (an eggplant "lasagna"/ rollatini). I had some lentil soup with french bread and leftover asparagus.

I know whole grains are superior in nutrition to white flour, and generally I have a huge preference for whole grains. Occasionally though, you just can't beat a good, doughy French or Cuban bread. :)

We'll also be enjoying the dessert from last night that we never got around to sampling. One of my all-time favorites: chocolate covered strawberries!

What I used for the vegan chocolate is Ghiradelli's Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (this is also the chip I use in my vegan chocolate chip cookies). Make sure you get the semi-sweet though, because the 60% Cacao Chips contain milk. Whole Foods also has a vegan chocolate chip, but at least at my grocery store the Ghiradelli's is easily available and also cheaper (around $2.99/bag) compared to WF (around $3.39 I believe).

Overall my weekend has been good, but relatively uneventful. My body has been incredibly tired, which is why I chose to listen to it today and just lay low. What did you do this weekend?

G'night!

Sounds like a wonderfully relaxing weekend to me! :)

My weekend = baking, studying, jewelry-making, spending time outdoors (when it wasn't raining).

Great uneventful weekend! Sounds postiviely splendid.

I often have great intentions of creating a wonderful and gormuet meal on Sundays because I feel like I should (its the one day of the week when I actually have the time to do it) but often, when it comes around to it, I am way to unmotivated and just avert to the simple method. Tastes just as good! :)

Have a great night hun!

I love movie nights! Sadly I've spent this weekend (and today) recovering from a cold.

Thanks for the tip about the chocolate, those strawberries look amazing! I found out the hard way this weekend that the 60% Ghirardelli contains milk fat, I was a bit surprised.

Have a great day!

Sounds like a great day! I watched Ghosts of Girlfriends past this weekend too. It was dumb, but in a cute way haha. And Matthew is always nice to look at.

The choc. strawberries look so divine! I wish you could cook for me!
